The fast pace of our increasingly interconnected global environment, organizational structures and business priorities result in shifts often happening in the blink of an eye, causing key resources and even long-term and valued personnel to suddenly become misaligned.

This is a painful situation no one wishes to have so that when these situations do occur, most companies work quickly and diligently in an attempt to prevent or at least mitigate the negative effects on both retained and soon to be released employees.

The 21st Century reality is that such situations now happen with an increasing frequency and yet the mishandling of such an event can lead to heavy legal and financial exposure while ravaging the retained employees' morale.

When faced with this reality and the subsequent release and departure of employees, it's simply good business to assist them in this often painful transition for a number of reasons including: 
  • To build and maintain goodwill among released employees
  • To reduce uncertainty and cognitive dissonance among remaining staff
  • To stabilize or increase morale among remaining staff, suppliers and other stakeholders including the wider community
  • To reduce negative energy and potential toxicity from this painful event
  • To eliminate or at least mitigate legal exposure and risks

Once these issues are understood the question then becomes: "What program or programs do we select to accentuate the positive while mitigating the negative?"

Traditionally, most companies facing such situations turned to Outplacement Service firms which offered services that purported to help released employees overcome the logistical, strategic, tactical and often psychological hurdles in letting go of their current workplace and position and moving forward to a new opportunity.

On paper, it all sounded good. 

But that's also, unfortunately, where it ended because in practice it was too heavy on resume development, networking and career-related workshops. It often simply turned out to be a "feel good" way to fob off and warehouse released employees with a third party support service that more often than not did not facilitate a quick rebound into the job market nor did it ultimately result in a quick hiring of the released employee into a new position.

Time and time again, we've seen this occur both first hand and from the complaints voiced by both released employees and as well as the employers that contracted for and utilized these services.

We eventually became so dissatisfied with the processes being used as well as the industry status quo that we decided it was time to pull out a clean sheet of paper and completely re-invent the industry both in terms of the service philosophy, quality of content, process methodology, manner of delivery and quality of support.
